Work With Us

There are many ways to help us steward the land at Fawnwood, whether it’s in the gardens, fruit trees, field or forest. Depending on the week or season, we’re gently tending wild spaces to enhance native plant growth, finishing ongoing work projects, planting, weeding and reinvigorating our spaces.

We will do our best to find ways to reciprocate that make sense and feel good to all involved. To some, reciprocation may just be as simple as a break from city life, a walk in the woods or nurturing and communing with the land here. For others, it may be going home with wild and ethically self-harvested edible plants in the Spring or fresh veggies in the Summer and Fall. We’ll let each situation speak for itself and go from there.

Please call us before you visit to make sure we can be accommodating. June 503.758.4509

Spring Work Parties
During the Spring, we will have a series of work parties to help us prepare our beds, plant seeds or finish other projects we are working on. During work parties, we will provide some food, a wild-crafted tea, and allow ethical harvesting of wild foods that may be available at that time. We ask that volunteers bring a little food to share, their own plates, glasses and utensils. Examples of wild foods available in the spring: Nettle tops, Chickweed, Miners Lettuce, Wild Violet, Salmon Berry, Bitter Cress, Yellow Dock, Dandelion. 2009 Scheduled Work Parties:

Sunday, March 15th 11:30-4pm, Lunch at Noon
Sunday, April 12th 11:30-4pm, Lunch at Noon
Saturday, May TBA 11:30-4pm, Lunch at Noon
